The Steps Required for Dental Bonding Treatment

Posted .

Dental bonding is a beneficial dental treatment that can improve the health and appearance of your smile. It can repair decayed teeth, fix chipped teeth, restore cracked teeth, improve the appearance of a discolored tooth, and much more.

If you’re interested in taking advantage of dental bonding in Durham, North Carolina, then our Bull City Smiles Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, Debora Bolton DDS team is happy to tell you what to expect during treatment. You can expect the following three steps:

Step 1 – Preparation
Little preparation is needed when you are bonding a tooth. All your dentist needs to do to prepare is choose a shade of resin color that matches perfectly with your tooth.

Step 2 – The bonding process
Once the perfect shade is chosen, the surface of your tooth will be roughened and your dentist will apply a conditioning liquid to it. These two steps help the bonding material adhere to the tooth. Then, your dentist will apply the tooth-colored resin to the tooth and will mold and smooth it to the desired shape. Next, she will use a special ultraviolet light or laser to harden the material. Once the material is hardened, your dentist will further trim and shape it to make it match with your other teeth.

Step 3 – Time to completion
Because the bonding process is easy and stress free, it will only take 30 to 60 minutes to complete the process for each tooth.
